Basically just tighten up the curve a little on both ends. I really think that's all that needs doing. You obviously have a few methods of getting there but that's the reasonable goal imo.

I think id go with this. Currently if you are a sorc you might destory low wis characters (under 14) but you stand no chance against anything over say 17 wis characters.

id say might just keep it simple and slightly adjust the current formula a few percent each way. You might stand a better chance with 14 wis. you might not alway beat a sorc with 17 wis. I dont really thing its too far off.

Those lings and humans should lose to orcs and lizards most of the time.

And orcs and lizards should lose to mages the majority of the time, but beat all others most of the time. IMO.

Agreed.

I agree with this also! of course elves and gnomes should be badass. but those lower int mages shouldn't be just as powerful.

I think I might vote # 1, because I feel kind of sorry for it.

I'd rather see it work like agility does, and I don't see why it didn't in the first place. A straight check between caster INT and defender WIS seems effective.

If int wis works like agi then fizzle rates have to be taken into account. Melee attacks never fail they just miss, meanwhile magic can fail to cast and also be unaffected.

Fully agree with this too. It is another reason why damage pierces better. However, because its a 50/50 here I might actually try option 3 and if it sucks go to option 2.
