Auction System

Postby NiteHawk » Sat Jul 29, 2017 12:45 pm

Auction system is in.

The max bidding (also called automatic bidding) system makes bidding convenient so you don't have to keep coming back to re-bid every time someone places another bid. When you place a bid, you enter the maximum amount you're willing to pay for the item. The seller and other bidders don't know your maximum bid. The system places bids on your behalf using the automatic bid increment amount, which is based on the current high bid. The system will increase your bid only as much as necessary to make sure that you remain the high bidder up to your maximum amount. If another bidder places the same maximum bid or higher, the system will notify you so you can place another bid through telegrams. Your maximum bid is kept confidential until it is exceeded by another bidder.

Here's an example:
-The current bid for an item is 1000 gold. Kawasaki is the high bidder, and has placed a maximum bid of 2000 gold. His max bid is unknown to everyone else.
-NiteHawk views the item and sees the item is currently at 1000 gold. He places a bid of 1500 gold. The max bid is still held by Kawasaki, but the bid price is now at 1500 gold.
-NiteHawk tries to bid again, he bids 3000 gold. He takes the high bidder and the item is now at 2001 gold with a max bid of 3000. Everyone who views the item again does not know his maximum bid.
-Time runs out and NiteHawk wins. 999 gold is given back to NiteHawk as the maximum bid was not used, and he spends 2001 gold and wins the item.

Obviously this can be avoided and you could use the buyout system, or both systems together. It's up to you. I'll help more proper help on the system in the future, I'm not looking on improving it too much for a little bit, too much time was spent on it already 8)

Thanks!
