I like having to pay to remove them, or as JadeFalcon has said, to pay to see them.
In game: Diablo, Satan, Sicx, Nyte

Pay to remove is fine as people can already scrub obits, this just adds a gold sink to it.

The pay to see them is a good idea; like buying a paper, bloody ghouls. Although I prefer it to be free coz I'm cheap.
I like the pay to scrub them idea too; please remove me from the obits, my death brings me shame. Although it does remove the possibility of fun ambushes.

Some more ideas:
How about making it so that a person can only appear once in few minutes or something (unless to a player from another clan)? That would make it harder to spam the obits; Fodder1 Fodder2, Fodder3 etc, would need to be made, hopefully be a bit more annoying for the people who do it :)
Also... double the amount of deaths logged.
Maybe even adding the option to see old deaths (at a cost); up to 3 logs back.

Minor edit.

If someone pays to remove their name from obits, would we agree to some sorta trace appearing?

i.e. Instead of the death appearing, it could show "A name has been scrubbed from the obituaries" or something along those lines.
When someone spams the obits at the moment you can tell that something is going on, but not who/what.
Same with paying to remove, you could tell something was up, but not what or who.

Paying to see obits might work, but i'd hope it'd be a very low fee. 10-50g

I don't like the idea of showing only one death per character every few minutes.

How would we feel about increasing the amount of obituaries shown?

Maybe you could pay a larger fee to see older obits? 250g or so

I said the last two things mate. I like the first idea.

Option:
Only showing the deaths of players who can be pkd? As in level 16?

I don't like that either, seeing a newbie die on obits is one of the best ways for them to get help from vets

Damn! I wish I had offered help to that guy... name begun with "F" who kept dying over and over, so quickly, to sand shrimps!
Completely filled the obits.
Poor guy... it was horrible, he must have PTSD now.
RIP man.
