Eh... kinda a... well ok never mind.
How about a command where you can shout a message?
Everyone x amount of squares away can hear it and you get an indication of how far away and in what direction the shout came from?

-You hear a male saurian voice shout out "Where are you, you numpty". It is heard far away and to the North West of where you are.
-You hear a male saurian voice shout out "Where are you, you numpty". It is heard close to you and to the North West of where you are.

In order for that to work it would have to be scripted in every single room, my opinion
