Refinery Changes

Refinery Changes (will be live at reset)

Here is a little summary of refinery changes. As you might know the refinery was a little unbalanced when it was introduced into the game and I take blame for not checking it closer. However before I made any changes I wanted to respect Metz and give him a chance to balance and tweak stuff himself. While I am sure he will be back we really cant wait any longer so I and other members of build have made some balancing/naming changes since naming has been an issue for players as well. All and all its easy to say this is the most well built oad area in the game, however it did need some balancing and a few name tweaks.

One of the problems with the area is that it drops a lot of the games best items. While that is fine for the bosses its not OK for its key and mini bosses to be dropping better items than the other oad bosses. It was possible to get 3-4 blues and a purple on one run and thats just not ok.


Value/Stat Changes
Refinery Controller
-Has about 25% less hp
-Drop his axe at 50% (was 25%) this axe will no longer be a blue level item but a green level item. (-1min)
Reasoning: this is a minor key boss it shouldn't be dropping blues equal to bosses drops. lowering hp will speed up the run a tad.

Refinery Overseer
-Has about 25% less hp
-Drop his axe at 50% (was 25%) this axe will no longer be a blue level item but a green level item. (-1max)
Reasoning: this is a minor key boss it shouldn't be dropping blues equal to bosses drops. lowering hp will speed up the run a tad.

Arcane Director
-Has about 15% less hp
-Drops his chains at 100% (was at 75%) this medium armor will no longer be blue but a green item. (-1ac) this is still +1 on draco and best medium armor in game).

Mana Devil
-AC on devils plate will be moved to 55ac (was at 56ac). This armor will stay as blue but -1ac.
Reasoning: This item actually had purple values but was marked as a blue for some reason. Now it has the correct values for a blue.

Mana Wraith
-Has about 20% less hp and 10% more damage.
-Drops its light helm at 2.5% (was 1%)
Reasoning: its got quite a good amount of hp and the light helmet is only green. lowering hp will speed up the run a tad. More damage for more of a challenge less of a hassle.


Cave Worm
-Has about 25% less hp and 25% more damage.
Reasoning: lowering hp will speed up the run a tad. More damage for more of a challenge less of a hassle.



Name changes
A lot of people have complained about some of the names in the refiner. While I feel like its very well done as an area and I understand mana is the theme but i feel like having mana in almost every item name (especially the items that are for non casters is a bit too much). With the rest of builds help we came up with these names trying to keep the original theme of the items.



Slave Workers Sword > Arcane Sword

Furnace Prodder > Incinerating Knife

Red Mana Axe > Ruby Axe

Chained Mana Tunic > Arcane Chains

Contaminated Specialist Helmet > Luminous Helmet

Green Mana Axe > Emerald Axe

Mana Devils Plate > Devils Plate

Mana Drenched Helmet > Luminous Cap
