Daily Quest System Change Log 2/1/2018

Postby Lateralus » Thu Feb 01, 2018 1:58 pm

The Daily Quest system seems to be a success I see a lot of people doing them and quite a few people doing multiples so it looks like things are working as intended!

Over the last week we have been monitoring them and the players closely and taking feedback and making adjustments so here they are all spelled out for you guys.

First off we will be keeping the Champion's Marks and PP system separate. This allows us to cater the daily quest system towards PvE rewards and the PP system towards PvP rewards (those rewards will be getting an update soon as well). Two systems means there is really two things to work at which is nice as well.

With that said some of the Champ Mark reward prices have changed AND we have added some new items as well! This will be the new costs. Some prices have been lowered and a few raised however keep in mind we actually reduced requirements needed on a few of the casual quests and now will be rewarding 3 marks on some of the harder hardcore quests so things should even out just fine.

NEW MARKS EXCHANGE RATE

New Available Rewards
Champion's Marks Reward Item Info
1 - 1000 Gold Pouch
5 - 10% Experience Booster
5 - 5% Gold Booster
10 - Life Essence
10 - Energy Essence
15 - Contender's Ring 3hp,3mp
15 - 2% Ember of your choice
30 - 3% Ember of your choice
40 - Copper Heroic Coin
50 - Scroll of Unbinding
75 - Champion's Ring 8hp, 8mp
100 - 50mil exp scroll

COMING SOON
15 - **Contender's Necklace undecided benefit
20 - **Contender's Boots 3ac (green value)
- **Contender's Gloves 3ac (green value)
100 - **Champion's Necklace undecided benefit
125 - **Champion's Boots 6ac (blue value)
- **Champion's Gloves 6ac (blue value)
150 - **Champion's Sabre Account bound purple level 20, 25% damage against ALL npc (cannot unbind from account)
- **Champion's Battlestaff
- **Champion's Knife
- **Champion's Morning Star
- **Champion's Crossbow
- **Champion's Broadaxe

Just to give you an idea of the damage on the champions items

At level 20 they will of course be doing 25% more damage towards all npcs than a reg level 20 blue item. at level 25 they will be doing about 8-10% more damage than a purple level 25 towards npcs. However they will be doing about 11-14% less damage towards players. So in summary great for leveling good for farming and boss killing and not so good at pvp.

Quest Changes
War Commander - one of the harder/longer casual quests with npc blocks so dropped kills about 7% and removed 1 turn in.
Turenyara Councilman - hone of the harder/longer casual quests with npc blocks so dropped kills about 7% and removed 1 turn in.
Resistance Captain - wastelands - now requires a golden key (was a bit too easy as a hardcore quest, key will limit how many can be done a day)
Draven Hornbuckle - dwarf mines - gives 3 marks now (this is limited by 1-2 hour mini boss also a lot of kills to justify 3 marks)
Shaken Guard - watchtower - gives 3 marks now (this is limited by 1-2 hour mini boss also a lot of kills to justify 3 marks)
Old Man Miner - goblin mines - gives 3 marks now (this is limited by 1-2 hour mini boss also a lot of kills to justify 3 marks)
High Priestess Neishe - graveyard - gives 3 marks now (this is limited by two 1-2 hour mini bosses also a lot of kills to justify 3 marks)

Again want to thank our writers and builders because of their great work we were able to turn around these changes very quick. We will keep monitoring, adjusting and adding to the system as well thanks guys!

Nice work! Ive been doing at least 1 of these quests per day. Thats was a good add to the game.

Doubts:

Boots and gloves will be account bound also? Any class restriction on them?

Now a full armor set is: Armor+Helm+Shield+Boots+Gloves+Necklace (can equip more than one?)+ Rings (can equip more than one?), right?

As of now the only thing that will be account bound are the weapons. The necklace has a small chance but most likely not.

Once we get the next big server update in yes boots and gloves will be part of the set and play a role in overall armor so you’ll wanna collect those through reg mobs/hourly, oads, crafting and this system. Everyone can wear both boots and gloves no restrictions on that.

Stay tuned for an update post, things are moving along nicely with that.

Thanks for the work Lat. I do have some ongoing concerns for the high conversion rates for some of the rewards though.

1 Copper heroic coin for 40 marks is quite steep imho. The 50m exp scroll seems even more so.

Eg. Say a casual can play 1hr a day and the casual daily quest takes 20mins each run; therefore the player can run it 3x (if he does absolutely nothing else, ignores his clan's OAD/key needs, doesnt chat to player community etc - all things we want players to do once they log on in addition to daily quests) ... Even at this rate, such a casual player would take then 200 days to get single 150pp item (ie he needs 40marksx15 = 600 marks!). And he needs approx 33 days just to get a single 50m exp scroll which is only 1/6 to 1/7th the exp needed for a levelling job (therefore the whole lvling job would take approx 200-230 days) . Now imagine if that casual player only plays for 1hr a day and chooses to be sociable and interact with his clan and do other stuff ... And therefore the casual player only runs casual daily quest once a day. That's 600days (circa 1.5-2yrs) for a pp item and 600-700days (almost 2yrs!) for leveling job. I'd hazard a guess most casuals would give up caring to do daily quests daily long before committing to farming quests 1-2 years.

I know it's a fine line to walk between commited veterans farming 20+marks a day on all their 25ers and the casual who can only farm 1-3 marks a day. But if your aim is to really boost the attraction to the casuals then my opinion is that the conversion numbers have to be more realistic/doable for true casuals to actually give a crap to invest in caring about the mark collection system.

As it stands for me (if I haven't made math errors in my above calcs - which is possible) I probably won't be really caring very much to run casual daily quests routinely and would only do so as the occasional alleviation of boredom. Aspiring to actually attain a pp item or complete a levelling job via marks as a casual offpeak player was my main motivation for seeking the marks ....but 1-2yrs of daily quest farming before seeing any of the final rewards seems much too far away for me to really get excited about logging on daily to slog it out. If unchanged, I'd probably just go back to logging on to socialise/idle and do more relaxing things outside of EO or invest in other things where I can see a tangible payoff sooner rather than doing a daily quest.

Thanks for your work on implementing this much needed game improvement though. It's certainly a step in the right direction methinks. Hopefully my feedback helps with your consideration as to how ongoing development of the system might evolve to better achieve its aims. Peace

the casual guy doesnt need pp items, all he needs is a nice champion pve sword well within casual reasoning. the conversion is there for veterans and casuals who may become interested in event pvp someday.

also sooner or later pp items will start selling when pp is more achievable. when everybody is buying more of them for humming ones .

Lol. Sorry but your comments are a generalization and a narrow-minded one at that imho. Ppl can be casuals for a season of busyness irl but hope to be more active (and want to pvp more) once that season passes. Ppl can be casual and mainly want to participate in pvp events, but still be incentivised to do some pve in order to effecively pay for lvling jobs via exp scrolls etc. Basically an effective system would cater for as many diff types of ppl as you can in order to maximise active player hours (ie the end goal).

I mean would EO rather be generous in giving away abit more PP or Exp and have potentially say 30 more ppl logging on daily for an hour or so to bolster numbers online to enable many various things the game needs badly from.larger active playerbase (eg ppl to pk, new guilds to thrive, bigger community of ppl who don't stop caring for several month 'breaks' while irl gets busy etc) or would it rather be stingier and have less of all those things. I know which I would choose if I was a developer striving for relevance and growth. Shrugs. Peace.

I dont know how will be the boots/gloves/necklace offer/drops in game after the update to judge the price....

But about weapons, since its account bounded (u cant sell or borrow), weak than common oads for pvp and you are aiming for casual players: they seens to be expensive.

pp isnt holloween candy. you pop on say trick or treat and get rewarded 15 prestige points. i understand everyone wants endgame items, even casuals. yeah toss out pp everywhere make it ezpz. then what system will they have to add for real endgame item content? its just as narrow-minded to believe prestige should be easy, just for you.

theres plenty of people that play less than 2 hrs a day, win events, progress, quest, chat, jack off and arent sitting here asking for easy pp.

the exp scroll translates into an extra 500k exp per casual quest.(saying its completed by doing all casual quests) i do think it should be half as many marks to buy this. imo its good that people buy these instead of boots armors gloves etc. experience progression is one thing that doesnt matter ingame. you can have 50 25ers and still only a few of them will have great items.

should be like:
250 marks - free 25er
50 marks - 50m exp scroll
30 marks - 25m exp scroll
15 marks - 10m exp scroll

would be nice to push the purchase of these free experience instead of equipment. because equipment is always needed on characters, exp isnt. and youll have to play more to equip more.

Sorry - Ill have to go with Ant.

For me the problem isnt so much playing time, its just that i am seldom on when there are events - bad time zone. Im not saying that PP should be cotton candy, i agree that it should be hard, but i'd very much like a mechanic where at least i have a shot at getting them.

coming from the guy with 1 character and 800 pp worth of daggers? u cant get enough pp or somethin?

if your timezone sucks recommend a euro event or something. dont suggest ruining a system with raining prestige points.

id say recommend more events, but that honestly wont help if ur only on 1 hour, would just help other steady players more than you. casual player 1 wants an event at 4pm casual 2 at 730 casual 3 at 130 am - get the drift here? cant fit the needs of casuals. if ur casual why do you give a damn anyway?

no game in existence has the endgame top items for casuals you boys are looking for.
